"Throughout my journey of entrepreneurship, I have always had the skillset of a visionary. I am and forever will be a “big picture” kind of asset to my brands, my ideas, and my teams. Because of that, it has always been a difficult process to break down beginning steps in clarity and detail, so that I can reach my dreams and goals effectively and efficiently. For years I struggled launching my ideas, which left me to inevitably burn out before they could really take flight. I think this is a sad truth for a lot of individuals with passionate ideas, who lack community, resources, and context to how it all works together in one beautiful system.
Before working with Jody, I had no idea how to contract new team members to help grow your ideas. I took every opportunity to talk about it with other people, other business owners who seemed to just know how to do it. It was aggravating, understanding their words but I still carrying that overwhelming fear of the “I still don’t understand.” I remember feeling so insecure for my lack of experience in collaboration, perhaps even asking for help, that there were moments were I considered not contacting Jody at all. I considered more than once, scrapping the project all together, like I’ve done so many times before. Again, I think this is a sad truth for a lot of growing projects and beginning entrepreneurs.
During our consultation, Jody was both curious and excited to hear about my business. She invited my love and dedication out so effortlessly, as she was gentle and validating to my ideas and my approach. It felt as if I was chatting with a long time friend. We discussed her offerings, and her intention and ethics were immediately clear, as she makes sure all parties are in agreement in details and expectations, before any timeline begins and money is exchanged. As our contract started, we would have my favorite weekly “brain dump” sessions. It is an understatement to say just how incredibly helpful these were to me. They invited my passion and ideas out of my mind, onto the table, so that she could help me organize my thoughts and plan of action. The process with her, although extremely methodical and goal oriented, did not feel heavy on my head or heart. In fact, most the time, it didn’t feel like work at all. I know this sounds strange, but this is clearly an example of Jody’s intentional and cultivated skillset. With so many ideas and passion projects put to rest in my career, words cannot convey my excitement with the completion of a long time passion project. A passion project I could not of finished on my own.
I am so grateful to have moved forward with courage and commitment, to ask Jody to help see this project through. Albeit, the truest gift of all is the opportunity to truly integrated understanding and beauty of collaboration within my heart and practices.
